InterContinental Hotel, Warsaw confirmed as Forum venue
Climate Action will be hosting the Sustainable Innovation Forum 2013 at the InterContinental Hotel, Warsaw, Poland on November 18 alongside this years United Nations Climate Change Conference. The UNFCCC’s COP19 negotiations will take place in Poland from November 11-22 and the Climate Action team have been in Warsaw finalising the venue for the premier Forum. The Forum, organised in partnership with UNEP, will include panel debates on the key topics in the climate change and sustainable development debates and first class speakers will participate to discuss the solutions to the most pressing challenges facing the world.
COP19 National Stadium venue to deliver key benefits
The advantages of the Warsaw National Stadium as the conference venue include proximity to the airport and the city centre, where delegates will find the majority of big hotels and transport infrastructure. Moreover, the stadium has its own conference centre, where it will be possible to organise various meetings and sessions.
Latin America and Caribbean region could provide hosts of COP20
The UNFCCC Secretariat has released a note on arrangements for intergovernmental meetings which addresses COP 19 and future sessional periods and an offer from the Latin America and Caribbean States is set to to be put forward to host COP. Annexes to the note contain possible elements of the provisional agenda for COP 19 and for COP/MOP 9.
Polish Minister of Environment to chair COP 19
The Presidency of the UN’s 2013 climate conference will be held by Poland from November 2013 to November 2014, and the Polish Minister of the Environment will chair the COP 19 deliberations. Poland organised and held the UN Climate Change Conference in 2008 in Poznan.
